ABSTRACT

The knowledge of ambient air quality plays an important role in assessing the environmental scenario of the Ambaji region. Baseline ambient air quality status in the vicinity of the multimetal mine areas forms an indispensible part of the Rapid Environmental Impact Assessment studies. The quality of the ambient air depends upon the background concentrations of specific continents, the emission sources and meteorological condition of the region. This study is essential to identify environmentally significant issues related to mining environment particularly dust generation, acid mine drainage, land subsidence and deforestation. The baseline studies on air environmental include air pollution parameters expected to have significant impacts and assessing their levels in ambient air within the impact zone. This paper explores the problem and impact on near and around the mining area due to mining activity.
