Fluorosis is caused by ingestion of excess of fluoride over a long period. It affects multiple tissues, organs and system of the body and results in a variety of clinical manifestations, culminating in a crippling condition and/ or damaged and discolored teeth. Fluoride can enter the body through drinking water, food, drugs, Dental products and industrial emissions. Skeletal Fluorosis usually becomes crippling in people in the endemic regions. Non Skeletal Fluorosis results in Gastro-Intestinal problems, nervousness, depression, muscle weakness, headache, infertility, low I.Q of children and anemia etc. The study has been carried out to know the prevalence of Dental Fluorosis, factors responsible for its early detection and prevention and to increase awareness and suggest remedial measures.
