ABSTRACT

Sublethal effects of copper, on weight and somatic indices in Indian flying barb, Esomus danricus (Hamilton-Buchanan), a teleost fish, was determined. Two sublethal concentrations viz., 0.001 μgl-1 and 0.0001 μgl-1 showed decline in weight up to 28 days of exposure while 0.00001 μgl-1 of Cu showed initial increase in weight up to 14 days of exposure. Brain, kidney and hepato somatic index declined in Cu exposed fish for all the test concentrations.
