ABSTRACT

 

One of the concomitants of industrialization has been excessive urbanisation and enormous increase in the vehicle density on the roads resulted in increase of noise pollution. The present study reveals to assess the ill effects on the life of people in Udyamnagar, Kolhapur. A cross sectional survey of the population in the form of prepared questionnaire in this selected location is carried out. It indicates that the major sources of noise pollution are industries, traffic and other contributory sources. The extreme effects that people suffer are sleep interference, communicating interference, loss of working efficiency, headache and other effects. Generally a request to reduce the noise is made out by the aggrieved party. However, complaints to the administration, police have also accepted as a way of solving this menace.
