SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC DETECTION METHOD OF MICRO AMOUNT OF NITRITE IN WATER SAMPLES

ABSTRACT

 

This paper describes a new method for the determination of nitrite in water samples based on the reaction of nitrite with 4-aminoantipyrene to form salt and its subsequent coupling with resorcinol (RSC) in acidic medium. Masking can eliminate the interference of foreign ions with complexing agents. Beer’S law is obeyed up to 1 ?g/ml of nitrite in 50 ml of solution and molar absorptivity (molar extinction coefficient) was observed at 340 nm. The color is stable up to 10 hrs. The results obtained by using the proposed method for water samples were compared with standard methods.
