ABSTRACT

 

India is a country that is committed to the protection of its environment. In pursuance of this policy which has been reflected both in our Constitution and legislations, the government has provided for public hearings in certain matters of environmental clearance. Such a step will go a far way in strengthen our democracy as it it’S the power of decision making to the grass root levels. This process, though in tune with the International thought process, suffers from various disabilities. Various recommendations are provided in order to assist the government in the correct implementation of such a scheme.
