ABSTRACT

Physico-chemical monitoring of Hasdeo river water at Korba (India) was carried out during the pre-monsoon of 2005. So many industrial effluents from NTPC, BALCO, CSEB thermal power and coal, bauxite mines wastes are continuously discharged in the Hasdeo river and its branch. So that water becoming polluted. Six sampling points were selected on the basis of their importance. The water analysis was carried out for the parameters namely temperature, pH, EC, DO, Alkalinity, TDS, TS, Chloride, Fluoride, Nitrate, Sulphate, Calcium and Magnesium hardness. The result obtained in the present investigation revealed that the discharge of untreated industrial effluents and sewage have contributed considerable pollution in the Hasdeo river at Korba and is unsafe for consumption of human use and therefore need serious precaution.
