MICROWAVE-ASSISTED REACTION : ONE POT SYNTHESIS OF VARIOUS QUINOLYL-QUINOLINE-4-ONE DERIVATIVES

ABSTRACT

 

One pot synthesis of various quinolyl-quinoline-4-one derivatives by condensation of 6-(un)substituted, 2-chloro, 3-formyl quinoline, 4-substituted acetophenone and ammonium acetate using piperidine as a catalyst under microwave irradiation. All synthesized compounds were well characterized by their melting point, elemental analysis, IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectral studies. Antibacterial activity of all the compounds have been studied using gram positive and gram negative bacteria and their anti-fungal activity have been studied using Aspergillus parasiticus and Sclerotium rolfsii species.
