DROUGHT AND TREND ANALYSIS IN CENTRAL IRAN : CASE STUDY OF ESFAHAN PROVINCE

ABSTRACT

 

Isfahan province is located in the arid zone of Central Iran and in Eastern parts of Zagros ranges. So these phenomena caused precipitation decrease and temperature and evaporation increase because of the air subsidence. So the fluctuation of rainfall is very high in these areas. Esfahan province to be exposes the drought and in additional, their farmlands and natural resources to be expose of serious dangerous. One of the ways to adjustment of drought is evaluation and monitoring of it basis of indices that it can be determine the intensity and permanence of it in region. In this article, rainfall and drought analysis and trend analysis studied using standard precipitation index and Mann-Kendall test, respectively. The results showed that most of the station in Esfahan province is faced the severe drought in the year 2000 and in 2008 this situation occurred one more time. Shahreza station experiments the severe drought in 2008. This situation is unprecedented from 1970 to 2008. In most of the stations, trend begins from 2000. On the other hand, the year of 2000 is beginning of climate change in Esfahan province.
