ABSTRACT

The aim of present study was carried out to assess the status of the ground water in Narwar block of Shivpuri district, Madhya Pradesh, India. Ground water samples were obtained from sources like hand pumps and wells, covering 10 villages of the Narwar block. The water samples were collected from 12 water resources in iodine treated bottles by taking all precautions. The physico-chemical parameters such as water temperature, turbidity, electrical conductivity, pH, total alkalinity, total hardness, chlorides, calcium, nitrate-nitrogen, nitrite-nitrogen, magnesium, and fluoride have been analyzed. The results showed that among the ground water many of the estimated physicochemical parameters of Narwar block areas are more or less than the permissible limits of ICMR, 1975, BIS, 2012 and WHO, 2011.
