EFFECT OF AIR POLLUTION ON FOLIAR MORPHOLOGY OF SOME TREE SPECIES AT INDORE, MADHYA PRADESH, INDIA

ABSTRACT

 

Effect of air pollution on some tree species namely Mangifera indica, Azadirachta indica, Polyalthia longifolia and Cassia siamea at two sampling sites (reference and polluted) of Indore city (India) were studied. The parameters examined were, leaf area (mm2), epidermal cells/ mm2, number of stomata/mm2, trichome frequency/mm2 and L/B ratio (mm). The study shows that plants species growing in polluted area were adversely affected by air pollution.
