ICHTHYOFAUNAL DIVERSITY IN JAMKHEDI RESERVOIR IN DHULE DISTRICT OF MAHARASHTRA, INDIA

ABSTRACT

 

The ichthyofaunal studies were done during January to December 2012 from Jamkhedi reservoir in Sakritaluka from Dhule district of Maharashtra state, India. The results of present investigation revealed that occurrence of 20 fish species belonging to 06 orders, 10 families and 20 genera. The order Cypriniformes was found dominant (10 species) followed by Perciformes, Siluriformes (3 species each), Synbranchioformes (2 species), Cypridontiformes and Osteoglossiformes (1 species each). Fish diversity was assessed by calculating the various diversity indices such as Shannon Ė Wiener diversity index (H), Simpsonís Dominance index (D), Simpsonís index of diversity (1- D), Evenness index (J).
